Wind Lake Fire & Rescue were called at approximately 1245hrs to a report of a barn fire at 3920 N. Raynor Avenue on Friday afternoon March 4th, 2011.
Responding firefighters called for a MABAS Box Alarm while Enroute as deputies were on scene reporting a fully involved barn fire and smoke could be seen from miles away.
Once on scene command requested the MABAS Box upgraded to the 5th Alarm for Engines and Tankers to the scene.
Firefighters battled the blaze for several hours using approximately 36,000 gallons of water to extinguish the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Racine County Arson Task Force with damage estimated at $175,000 to the pole barn.
Twenty seven goats perished during the blaze and the structure is a total loss.
Fire Departments form MABAS Divisions 102 (Racine County), 103 (Walworth County) and 106 (Waukesha County) assisted battling the blaze.
The Wind Lake Fire Department was also assisted at the scene by the Racine County Sheriffs Department and a Rehab Support Unit from the Racine Fire Bells.
