On Wednesday August 3rd, 2011 at 1206hrs Somers Fire & Rescue and the Kenosha County Sheriffs Department were called to the 5800 blk of 1st Street for a reported PI accident with a person trapped in a vehicle.
Upon arrival emergency workers found that a 2003 Ford Focus had crashed into the rear of a flatbed tow truck that had been backing out of a residential driveway and that the operator of the Focus was trapped in the vehicle.
Somers command requested Flight for Life to the incident and a landing zone was established on the front apron of South Shore Fire Station # 8.
The injured man was transported via Rescue Squad from the accident scene to the landing zone where the care of the patient was transferred to a Flight for Life crew.
The patient was flown to Froedtert Hospital on Wauwatosa for treatment of a undisclosed injuries..
According to a sheriffs department the operator of the Ford Focus was heading eastbound on 1st Street just as a tow truck was backing out of a residential driveway and the driver sweaved before hitting the rear of the tow truck.
The Kensoha County Sheriffs Department is investigating the accident.
