On Wednesday afternoon July 13th, 2011 at approximately 1300hrs the Franklin Fire Department responded to a report of a home on fire in the 8600 blk of S. 35th Street.
Upon arrival firefighters found a two story home with the second floor well involved which prompted command to request MABAS Box 2-21 to the Box Alarm level which brought fire crews from nine area departments to the incident.
Firefighters were initially hampered by a long narrow driveway which permitted only one engine up to the home and a long 5” hose lay from the nearest fire hydrant.
The blaze was fought for about an hour before being brought under control with additional time to perform overhaul.
The fire caused approximately $250,000 damage and remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.
