On Sunday morning November 22nd , 2009 just before 0800hrs members of Caledonia Fire & Rescue were dispatched to a reported house fire with multiple calls being received at 4542 Charles Street.
Upon arrival of Engine 222 smoke and flames were visible with a possible person trapped.
As firefighters entered the home after forcing the front door a 60-year-old female was located in the living room and was brought out where efforts to revive her failed and she was pronounced deceased on scene.
The fire was brought under control within 45-minutes however Fire Investigators remained on scene for several hours investigating the cause of the fire.
A damage estimate was unavailible however the fire damage was mostly contained to the living room of the home.
Fire & Rescue units on scene included Engine 221, Engine 222, Truck 253, South Shore Rescue Squad 133 (ALS), Command 241 and Chief 240.
