NARRATIVE: The Racine Fire Department responded to a fire in a three family residence. All units were occupied at the time of the fire, but everyone exited the residence safely. The fire started in the kitchen of the lower south apartment on the stove. The occupant of the unit was heating cooking oil and fell asleep. She was awakened by the noise of the fire. There was heavy fire damage to the kitchen in the upper and lower south units. The rear stairwell was also heavily damaged by fire. The lower north unit incurred very light smoke damage.
