On Sunday afternoon March 15, 2009 at 1308hrs a General Alarm was sounded for a report of smoke showing from a window of a home at 2201 W. High Street.
Companies responding on the alarm were Engines 1 & 2, Quint 8, Rescue 8 (ALS) and Car 41 (Battalion Chief).
Engine 2 arrived on scene and reported smoke showing from a two story wood frame home and that they were pulling an attack line.
With the report of a working fire Car 41 (Battalion Chief) requested Truck 1 to the scene as the Rapid Intervention Team.
Second due Engine 1 laid a 5" supply line to Engine 2 and then stretched a second line into the fire building while the crew of Rescue 8 did a primary search of the home which proved negative as the Quint 8 crew ventilated the residence.
The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes.
A fire investigator (Utility 3) was called to the scene and listed the cause of the fire as an unspecified electrical problem in a floor fan or electrical cords present in the area of origin.
Damage to the structure and contents listed at $20,000.
No injuries were reported.
